CHINA, Mich., Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ — For the second consecutive year, Inc. Magazine has ranked IPexpert on its list of the fastest-growing private companies in the country. The list is the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy — America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs. Taken as a whole, these companies represent the backbone of the U.S. economy.
“Our second annual Inc. 5000 continues the most ambitious project in business journalism,” said Inc. 5000 Project Manager, Jim Melloan. “The Inc. 5000 gives an unrivalled portrait of young, underreported companies across all industries doing fascinating things with cutting-edge business models, as well as older companies that are still showing impressive growth.”
IPexpert is a global leader in providing self-study multimedia learning tools and classroom training preparing computer networking engineers for the highest-level career certification offered by Cisco Systems: the CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert). Although Cisco is the leading provider of computer networking solutions worldwide, less than 20,000 engineers have been able to attain this prestigious certification. Those that have joined this elite group are highly sought after by the world’s top companies and government agencies, commanding six-figure salaries, job security and respected status among peers.
Wayne Lawson, IPexpert President, founded the company in 2001 after becoming a CCIE himself. “Growing from a part-time hobby to a multimillion dollar business has been an incredible journey,” he said. Vice President Matt Brooks credits the success of IPexpert to “making the right investments, building a great team and staying focused on the customer.”
The Inc. 5000 is ranked according to each company’s percentage of revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent — not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies. Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and a list of the fastest-growing companies that can be sorted by industry and region can be found at .
IPexpert Ranking Overview:
— #1137 of 5000 overall

VIDEO from Medialink and Seagate Technology: What is Maxtor Central Axis by Seagate?

NEW YORK, July 28 /PRNewswire/ — The new Maxtor Central Axis network attached drive by Seagate is a back up and storage device for your entire network. A concept once only reserved for the small business and enterprise space, networked storage is increasingly becoming a viable option for multiple-computer homes.
(See video from Seagate Technology at: )
According to Yankee Group’s 2008 Device Survey, of those who purchased network routers for the home, 75.9% did so with the intent of providing multiple computers with access to the Internet. The challenge of these multi-computer households is the ability to share and back up files from each computer. Maxtor Central Axis network drive allows for each computer in the home to be automatically backed up, so important files and precious memories are sheltered from virus infections or disc drive failures.
Sharing files from computer to computer is easy when there is one repository for any file that you would like to share. Additionally, since the storage device is connected to the router and not formatted for an individual computer, files can be accessed and stored from both Mac OS X and Windows operated PCs.
The Maxtor Central Axis network drive liberates content that was once trapped on individual computers. This easy to use solution enables multimedia file sharing from every computer in the home as well as from common entertainment devices, such as Microsoft(R) Xbox(R) 360 and Sony(R) PlayStation(R) 3(TM). Watching home movies, viewing pictures of the last family vacation and listening to music can now all be enjoyed in the living room through networked console players instead of having guests crowd around a computer monitor in the den or a small laptop computer screen. This storage device helps put your digital entertainment back in a room where the whole family can enjoy it.

Carbonite Online Backup Launches in Japan

BOSTON and TOKYO, July 1 /PRNewswire/ — Carbonite, Inc. and BB Softservice Corp., a consolidated subsidiary of SoftBank BB, have partnered to introduce the first online backup service for the retail market in Japan. The boxed product will now be available in selected retail stores throughout Japan, via e-tailers and online electronic software distribution (ESD) resellers.
“In Japan, the retail market for boxed software is far more important than it is in the U.S.,” explains David Friend, CEO of Carbonite. “SoftBank BB is the largest distributor of packaged software in Japan and we have teamed up with them to get ‘Carbonite Online Backup in a box’ onto the retail shelves of major computer stores around the country. For the first time in Japan, a PC owner can buy a service that backs up his PC online, and it’s available at local computer stores ready to install.”
Shintaro Taki, President of BB Softservice said, “Software as a service is coming to retail, and Carbonite Online Backup is right on the cutting edge in Japan. We think it will be very successful because of the high penetration of broadband in Japan and the simplicity and low cost of the Carbonite Online Backup service. Everyone with a PC in Japan should have this service to protect the valuable data on their computers.”
Carbonite Online Backup installs with just a few clicks and runs quietly in the background, continually backing up all data files. It is completely automatic — once installed, Carbonite Online Backup finds all new and changed files and continues to back them up whenever the PC is connected to the Internet. Storage capacity is unlimited — so users never outgrow their Carbonite Online Backup subscription no matter how much data they have. Data is encrypted before leaving the local computer and is transmitted to Carbonite’s secure data center using HTTPS (SSL) for total privacy.
Floyd Bradley, Carbonite’s EVP International, said, “Carbonite’s strategic relationship with BB Softservice opens an enormous new market for Carbonite Online Backup. With some 90 million Internet users and an advanced broadband infrastructure, Japan should be an excellent market for Carbonite. BB Softservice’s management team has moved aggressively to bring Carbonite Online Backup to market, and they are the first to offer a native-language online backup solution for Japanese consumers and small businesses.”
The Japanese Carbonite Online Backup product is being sold for yen 4,980 for a 13-month, unlimited-capacity subscription (approximately US$ 50). In addition to leading retail stores, the packaged product is sold through online retailers such SoftBank SELECTION (). Carbonite Japanese is also downloadable from or from , payable on a monthly basis of yen 500.
